ABSTRACT
Today a lot of countries are in pursuit to advance in science and technology. The purpose of this project is to design a system, which is to make life easier for consumer. For this project the title is “Controlling Home Appliances through Remote”. This project actually is a prototype that enables to implement the switching operation of electrical devices. However this system uses the IR signals and a decade counter to ON and OFF the switch.Implementation of this project not only makes consumer life easier and happy but also moves ahead in the growth of technology. The concept of this project actually to build a new system to control many electrical devices in house by using a single remote controller, though the user is away from the switch, it can still control many electrical devices in home. By using this circuit we can control all the home appliances like light, fan, refrigerators, washing machines etc.
The system consists of fewer components and is very simple. In this system we make use of TSOP1738 is a high sensitive IR receiver which can sense 38 KHz IR light. Electrolytic capacitors, NPN, PNP transistors, BCD counter (CD4017), electromagnetic relay. Diode 1N4007 (D1) acts as a freewheeling diode. The appliance to be controlled is connected between the pole of the relay and neutral terminal of mains. Two leds are used (one green, one red).Green LED indicates the ON condition and Red LED indicates the OFF condition of the home appliances.
There are lots of advantages using this system. This project is of low cost and highly sensitive circuit. Any TV/DVD remote can be used to control the appliances. This system can cover a distance up to 10 meters and can handle heavy loads up to 7 A. This system can be used not only for the home appliances but also for industrial appliances, electronic toys, hotel appliances etc.
