NUCLEAR POWER PLANT
INTRODUCTION
A large quantity of power is essential to the modern world at cheap cost.
Now a days major contribution of required demand is satisfied by the fossil fuel such as coal and oil.
With the help of nuclear power station large amount of power can be generated by a small amount of mass of active material.
A complete fission of 1 kg of Uranium release the equivalent hit energy that to be produced by burning 27,50,000 kg of coal.
Thus the power hidden in Uranium & Thorium represents a significant contribution to the world power resources.
Nuclear fission
When unstable heavy nucleus is bombarded with high energy neutrons .Then it splits into two elements of lower mass number.
It also release huge amount
of energy with separation
of two or three neutrons
at high speed.
The fission of
nucleus is possible only when
critical energy is more than the
neutrons binding energy
Advantages of Nuclear Power Station
A nuclear power station reduces the demand for coal ,oil and gas. Therefore there is a considerable saving in the cost of fuel.
The area and volume needed for a nuclear power station is less in comparison to a conventional power plant.
The only requirement being that there should be reasonably good supply of water. Hence nuclear poor station can be located near to load center in order to minimize the transmission cost.
Disadvantage of Nuclear Power Station
The capital cost is very large as compare to other power station .
The fuel used is very costly , radioactive and difficult to recover .
The waste product radioactive is harmful to human life ,therefore they should be disposed off in deep pit or in a trenching sea away from sea shore which increase the disposal cost
CONCLUSION
In this way we have study the Nuclear Power Station that its efficiency is low.
