INSTRUCTIONS FOR PAPER SETTER
The question paper will consist of five sections A, B, C, D & E. Section A, B, C & D will have two questions from the respective sections of the syllabus and will carry 12 marks each. Section E will have 8 short-answer type questions which will cover the entire syllabus uniformly and will carry 32 marks in all.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR CANDIDATES
Candidates are required to attempt one questions each from sections A, B, C & D of the question paper and the entire section E.
SECTION-A
1. Classification of Textile fibres and their identification.
2. Polymer Chemistry - Polymer definition, types, degree of polymerization and methods, process, indentations & crystallization of molecules.
3. Fibre to fabric processing (with special reference) to the properties - physical and chemical (length, density, specific gravity, fiber fineness & maturity.
a. Natural Fibres - Cotton, Wool, Silk, Linen.
b. Synthetic Fibres - Polyesters, Nylon, Acrylic, Rayons,
Elastomeric.
SECTION-B
1. Types of Yarns
2. Yarn Construction - Yarn Construction system, Cotton, Wool, Silk, Polyester, Nylon, twist, count, dia meter determination.
SECTION-C
1. Fabric Construction - Weave & its types, ends & picks, count, weight, thickness determination
2. Thermal conductivity, air permeability, porosity of fabrices.
3. Shrinkage, laundering shrinkage, thermal shrinkage & heat setting in dimensional stability of fabrices.
SECTION-D
1. Importance of colour, colour wheel and colour cchemes.
2. Choosing proper colour in dress for various occasions, ceremonies, occupation, seasons etc.
3. Principes of Design -
