INTRODUCTION
What’s the importance for preparing for a test? A test is a set of questions or exercises evaluating skills or knowledge over a single or multiple subjects. Test taking can be stressful and nerve racking, but there are many ways to prepare for a test to relieve these potential issues and symptoms. The importance of test taking can be different for everyone, but we all stride for the same goal.
One importance for preparing for a test is the attitude during the test, the stress of knowing a test is coming up and the stress it can build on someone. Being calm and focused during test time can help answer those questions that may seem a little unfamiliar. Whether the test is an oral, written, or even a physical test, being prepared can be the key to success. If you start to have symptoms such as being nervous, tired, or even hungry which can cause anyone to be unprepared to take a test, pre yourself to be ready to expect these kind of emotions and then counter it by knowing what’s at hand. Taking a test unprepared can cause someone to rush through the test, answer questions without fully reading the question and answers, or even leaving questions unanswered due to not being aware of the time given to take the test. This is why it’s highly important to be focused and mind set ready for test day. While some individuals can retain everything that was taught in class, than you have those who don’t study days before a test like were all instructed to do so, and then seem to struggle during the test (Test Taking Strategies (2003). Since everyone is not gifted with this so called special power we have to be mentally and physically prepared for test day. There are many ways to be mentally prepared and relieve test taking anxiety. It can vary from having a goodnight rest the day before to answering the easier questions first to help build confidence on answering the harder questions later. Out of all possible ways having a positive attitude while preparing for the test and during the test should be the main focus. Then you have methods and strategies to physically prepare for a test.
Another importance is being physically prepared for a test. There are many ways to be prepared before a test, but are different for everyone. Starting early and having a head start on studying can be a helpful solution, so an entire lesson doesn’t have to be crammed into one night of studying. Forcing yourself to learn many things over night can be overwhelming and you end up losing interest to have the want to continue studying. You need to set yourself time to create flash cards and go over study information about the test. Setting yourself up with time can create a smoother transition of information to your brain. When studying and you come across something you don’t know assistance needs to be requested. Don’t ignore the lesson or question and assume you’ll return to it later, take the time to find the information needed so you are prepared for it. The day before the test ensure you have plenty of sleep and have a nice meal the morning of. If not enough sleep is obtained, you can become sleep deprived to were you may not be capable to retain any information on what you worked so hard to prepare for. The morning of test day, walk into the classroom with a positive and collective attitude. As you receive your test keep yourself calm and don’t become overwhelmed at the first glance of the test. College courses can be a little overwhelming when it comes to tests. Remember to focus and do not rush into the test. No matter how easy the test may seem, ensure you read the directions and every question carefully. If you happen to come across a question that may seem hard, skip over it and return to it once you get to the final question. Once the test is complete do not panic and doubt yourself of passing. You don’t want to create any commotion over a test that is already complete. Your grade is going to stay the same and you’ll just end up unfocused for your next test. Instead collect yourself and be prepared for the next. If you can pride yourself on how great you potentially did, this can build confidence for other tests.
The importance for preparing for a test is to be successful in school and to be one class closer to our degree. There are many goals we create while in school. Some consist of receiving high grades and others would just like to pass the class, but we all want to be successful while in school. Students in high school enroll into college to seek a higher education and have a plan for life. Prepared for tests helps us score high grades which in case we can benefit by enrolling into less required classes as it would for someone who goofed off on their college assessment tests. No money or time will be wasted for classes being failed. For us military members, classes failed would mean that TA (Tuition Assistance) will be credited back to the government. When you are in an owed status with the education office, you can no longer enroll into any classes until all classes are paid off. Being set back from school can be a tremendous down fall, due to graduating date being extended for an extra semester or even year. Besides paying for school, money can be an issue with family and friends. When you happen to have wife and kids, money has to be dealt with care and spent wisely. Unprepared and failing tests can cause failing classes which can cause money lost. We all work hard for our money and the way the economy is these days, we have to be over precautious on our management of money. These here are some goals people can possibly see eye to eye on.
