In many applications it is necessary to disengage the input shaft & the output shaft when there is an overload on the output shaft in order to prevent the breakage of the coupling or electrical burnout of the motor due to electrical overload. The overload slipping ball clutch is an mechanical device which is capable as disconnecting the input & the output shaft when the overload condition occurs. It also has the facility to be present at a particular overload value as per the demand as application.

The overload slipping ball clutch is an mechanical device which is capable as disconnecting the input & the output shaft when the overload condition occurs. It also has the facility to be present at a particular overload value as per the demand as application.
When the motor is started the input shaft rotates the clutch through the base flange, steel balls, springs, plunger, casing & thereby the output shaft rotates. The clutch can be subjected to load by loading the dynamometer pulley. When the load exceeds the overload condition the balls start slipping in the V-serrations & finally slip out of the V-serrations into the open space in the clutch, this disengages the output shaft.
The clutch can be easily preset again after stopping the motor. So also it can be preset to any desired torque value as per the application.
