The industrial production of L-Glutamine started with its fermentation in the late 1960’s. Currently it is manufactured for use as pharmaceuticals and health foods at the world wide annual production of 2000 metric tons.
To manufacture high quality L-Glutamine at a low cost, it is of prime importance to obtain a strain of micro organisms with a good production efficiency and minimum by products.
Glutamine production is done using potato which contains about 76-78 % of glutamic acid using “Cornybacterium glutamicum” as the fermenting agentthat enhances glutamine production by 45 to 47 percent.
