CYBER LAW
The primary source of cyber law in India is information technology act,2000(IT act) which came into force on 17 october 2000.
The IT act also penalizes various cyber crimes and provides strict punishments.
Some of the IT act are as follows:
INVESTIGATION AUTHORITIES:
Controller of certifying authorities(CCA).
Person authorised by CCA.
Police officer not below the rank of deputy superintendent.
PENALITY FOR PUBLISHING DIGITAL SIGNATURE
No person shall publish a digital signature certificate otherwise make it available to any other person with the knowledge that:
The certifying authority listed in the certificate has not issued it; or
The subscriber listed in the certificate has not accepted it; or
The certificate has been revoked or suspended, unless such publication is for the purpose of verifying a digital signature created prior to such suspension.
Any person who contravenes the provision of sub-section (1) shall be punished with imprisonment for the team which may extend to two years, or with fine which may extend to INR 100,000.
Or with both.
