INTRODUCTION
Automated Teller Machine (ATM) are computerised telecommunication devices typically used for business financial transactions and banking functions.
ATMs are found in places like restaurants, supermarkets, malls, banking centres and so on.
Also known as Automated Banking Machines (ABM).
EXISTING SYSTEM
Existing ATMs provide instructions on its display screen for user guidance, who respond through keypad.
Drawbacks:
1. User should carry ATM card.
2. Chances of card getting struck
in to the machines.
3. Misuse of ATM cards by
unauthorized persons.
PROPOSED SYSTEM
In new generation system the ATM machine is operated without ATM card.
The SIM card is inserted in to the SIM slot of GSM modem which gets the user details by connection with the server.
GSM MODEM
A GSM modem can be an external device or a PC Card.
Connected to a computer through a serial cable or a USB cable.
Externally connected to the personal computer, the modem reads the SIM number of the user .
Computer uses AT commands to control modems like GSM/GPRS.
AT commands : Attention commands.
With the extended AT commands, you can do things like:
Monitoring the signal strength.
Monitoring the charging status and charge level of the battery.
Reading, writing and searching phone book entries..
AT+CIMI:
Execution of this command causes the modem to return the International Mobile Subscriber Identity number immediately after the sim is inserted.
A file is eventually created containing the IMSI number of the particular SIM.
The command and response may be obtained as
PERSONAL COMPUTER
The user’s IMSI number (SIM number) is transferred to the personal computer,by which the details are retrieved from the corresponding bank database.
PC also collects the image of the user from the web camera for face recognition process.
CONCLUSION
Thus this ATM system which is designed by us using SIM card thereby increasing its security through face recognition will be highly secure and more useful to the users.
