Solar Sprayer - An Agriculture Implement
Abstract: “Energy - demand” is one the major thread for our country. Finding solutions, to meet the “Energy - demand” is the great challenge for Social Scientist, Engineers, Entrepreneurs and Industrialist of our Country. According to them, Applications of Non conventional energy is the only alternate solution for conventional energy demand. Now-a-days the Concept and Technology employing this Non-conventional energy becomes very popular for all kinds of development activities. One of the major area, which finds number applications are in Agriculture Sectors. Solar energy plays an important role in drying agriculture products and for irrigation purpose for pumping the well water in remote villages without electricity. This Technology on solar energy can be extended for spraying pesticides, Fungicides and Fertilizers etc., using Solar Sprayers. This paper deals how a ‘Power Sprayer’ which is already in use and works with fossil fuel can be converted into solar sprayers works without any fossil fuel. INTRODUCTION Power Sprayer and its Performance: Power Sprayers are Objectives: To extend the concept of Solar PV- form. It is Two Stroke Petrol Engine. It need fuel and Oil Technology on “Solar Sprayers” as “Energy Alternate for its operation. The Mechanical parts of the engine Devices”. operates with this Fuel Energy. The Two Stroke Petrol To Convert the “Fuel Operating System” as “Free Engine mounted on a power sprayer is as shown in Energy Operating System” for agriculture implementation. Figure (1). used to discharge pesticides and fertilizers in the liquid The overall view of the power sprayer existing in the market with its components and parts are shown in Economic Analysis: The cost of the fuel increases day by day. It should be reduced by the modified model which works on the principle of solar energy. The operating cost of power sprayer for one hour operation is calculated and its value is compared with the operating cost of solar sprayer. Its seems that there is no need of operating cost but, the initial investment towards the charging unit is a one time investment with a life period of Twenty years which is almost equal to the unit cost of the power sprayer with twist of petrol engine.

A pesticide sprayer with solar performance is a pump that runs on electricity generated by photovoltaic panels or available solar energy collected from solar energy as compared to grid electricity or diesel operating pumps. The operation of solar pumps is more economical due mainly to lower operating and maintenance costs and has less environmental impact than pumps powered by an internal combustion engine (ICE). Solar pumps are useful when mains electricity is unavailable and alternative sources (particularly wind) do not provide enough power. Solar panels account for most (up to 80%) of the cost of the systems.
The size of the photovoltaic system depends directly on the size of the pump, the amount of water required (m³ / d) and the available solar irradiation. The solar sprayer has many advantages. In addition to reducing the cost of spraying, there is a saving in fuel / gasoline. In addition, you save the cost of transportation for the purchase of gasoline. Maintenance of the solar sprayer is simple. There is less vibration compared to the gasoline sprayer. The farmer can do the spraying operation on his own without devoting labor, thus increasing the spraying efficiency. A sprayer is a mechanical device used to spray liquid as herbicides, pesticides, fungicides and fertilizers to crops to avoid any pest. The sprayer provides optimum utilization of pesticides or any liquid with minimal strain. Sprayers and sprayers are generally used for the application of chemicals. Distinguishing the simplest method of applying chemicals and dusters are best suited for portable machineries and this usually requires simple equipment. But these devices are less efficient than sprayers, due to the low retention of dust. In Indian farms two types of spray pumps are generally used for spraying; Manual spray pump and spray pump with fuel pump, of which manual spray pumps are the most popular. The main drawback of the manual spray pump is that the user can not use it continuously for more than 5-6 hours as it tires after a long life. In addition, the fuel-operated spray pump requires expensive fuel and the availability of fuel in rural areas is difficult. Shivarajkumar. A and Parameswaramurthy. They have developed a wheel driven sprayer. This sprayer spraying equipment consists of: This blower tube is hand held by the operator of the device and is directed to the area where you want to spray pesticides / insecticides. The insecticide tank is connected to the blower pipe. By continuously feeding this insecticide to the blower tube, it is spread or sprayed where desired. The liquid insecticide is sprayed on the crops using the spray pipe, which receives the liquid from a reservoir with the aid of a pump. This pump is powered by another DC motor that receives power from the same battery. Hence the insecticide in the liquid is sprayed where desired. It can be understood in the following video: |
