INTRODUCTION
We are now going to discuss about the general properties which make plastics useful material for construction
Plastics are relatively new class of construction
Designers ,architects and engineers are finding that some problems in building constructed can be solved through the use of plastics
CLASSIFICATION OF PLASTIC BY CHEMICAL STRUCTURE
In addition to the molecular chains ,many plastic contains fillers which strengthen or toughen the material
The two broad classes of plastics
Thermosetting and
Thermoplastic resins
THERMOSETTING:
This class of plastic will undergo a chemical change when molded
The material leaving the mold ,therefore is chemically different from that which enters the mold
THERMOPLASTIC RESIN:
No chemical change
PHYSICAL AND ENGINEERING PROPERTIES
DR.E.B.COOPER has outlined the principal classes of plastics
PHYSICAL PROPERTIES:
The range of properties of plastic ,including laminates ,within their own limits is as great as the range of metals, and is as much greater than that of either concrete or timber
Depending upon the formulations and reinforcing materials employed ,plastics may be extremely weak or extremely strong with a range approximate to 20 to one
ELASTIC AND PLASTIC BEHAVIOR:
In elastic behavior steel, concrete, and timber assumed to behave elastically . As long some plastic, especially thermosetting type , also are essentially elastic within appropriate stress limits
Deformation is propotional to the load applied and disappears quickly when the load is released
CONCLUSION
Hence the above materials and details are just an overview of this project
Further we will collect much more details and test it and try to make this project as a successful one
