Rules and Regulations for Posters
1. Each poster should include a topic/title across the top. The Font Size should be at least 18
point, in bold printing to be seen easily.
2. Each poster should be about 48” by 96” (small variations in size are acceptable).
3. Underneath the topic/title, student authors’ names, title/position, advisor’s name, school,
postal addresses, and e-mail addresses should be listed in 16 point type minimum size.
4. The text information should be in at least 16 point type.
5. The poster must NOT be a commercial/product sales poster. Any poster that is deemed to
be a commercial advertisement will be removed from the Conference as unacceptable. The
judgment of the Conference Co-Chairs will be final.
6. Specific times and locations for Poster set-up and take down will be forwarded to you as the
information becomes available. Please note that all materials left in the poster area after
the specific take-down period will be discarded.
7. Students presenting posters are considered Speakers and are eligible for the registration
rates for Speakers.
8. All poster presenters are expected to register for the conference and be prepared to cover
their own registration and travel costs.
9. All poster presenters must be present on the first day of the conference for participation
and for recognition.
10. The student posters selected for the conference will be displayed in the exhibition hall for
the duration of the conference.
11. Student authors selected for poster presentations will not be making an oral presentation.
12. The contest will provide a cash award to the best student poster.
Financial Assistance
1. Some financial assistance may be available for the students selected to participate in the
contest.
2. If you require financial assistance, please submit your request in writing along with the
abstract submission for poster presentation.
Abstract Submission
1. Abstracts for technical poster presentation should provide a clear description of the topics
addressed in the poster. Topic must be relevant to special topics and recent regulatory
initiatives in the water, wastewater, oil and gas industries. Topics may include: Pipeline
Durability, Operation and Maintenance, Infrastructure Assessment and Monitoring,
Planning, Risk Management, Hydraulic Design, Design, Construction and Specialty Areas.
2. The abstract is limited to 500 words and a maximum of 2 pages. Figures and diagrams are
not considered in the word count and are encouraged.
