TURBOCOR CENTRIFUGAL COMPRESSORS
Features:
• totally oil-free
• lightweight
• quiet
• draws less than 2 amps, compared to 500–600 amps required by a conventional compressor.
Turbocor compressors offer better levels of energy efficiency than conventional screw, scroll or reciprocating compressors.
The reductions in energy input to this digitally controlled frictionless two stage centrifugal compressor, come as a result of using magnetic oil free bearing technology. This translates into significant reductions in chiller operating costs and environmental emissions associated with energy production.
The frictionless bearings reduce starting current to just 2 amps removing the transient starting spikes frequently associated with screw compressors and the need for expensive soft start arrangements.
Compared with screw compressors, a turbocor compressor has an energy efficiency ratio of up to 4.0 at full load conditions and in excess of 8.0 at part load, representing an energy efficiency increase of 10% and more than 100% respectively. It is to be remembered that chillers are operating at part load conditions for most of their working lives so it is in this area that huge savings are available.
Stepless compressor speed control ranging from 25% to 100% contributes to the high energy savings and accurate set point temperatures at part load conditions. Compressor speed control also enables the chiller to react quickly to load changes, accurately matching the load to chiller capacity.
