Development of DHIE
The DHIE program was developed in order to inculcate the newspaper reading habit in school children, to show them that learning can be fun, and to supplement the work of the teacher in the classroom.
The program aims to inform, educate and entertain students.
Duration of the DHIE program
Conducted for a period of 9 months
From June – Feb. - to coincide with the academic year
Marketing
The schools are contacted in March - May of the given year. They confirm participation in the program. The NIE class sessions start from June onwards.
Number of schools registered: 130
Number of copies distributed: 30,000
Advantages
Newspapers are the most up-to- date, inexpensive textbooks available to students.

The DHIE classes are participative and creative. The students as well as the members of the staff are appreciative of their classes and inputs. Skills such as public speaking, drawing and making creative art have been used in their pedagogy.”
