Abstracts: The heat transfer conditions in automotive exhaust piping are only recently being studied in depth because of their important role in the design and the optimization phases of exhaust after treatment systems. The material properties have major impact in design of exhaust manifold. So by studying the material properties we can implement those materials to be used in exhaust manifold for better life span and less cost. Here the exhaust manifold in the cylinder head is modelled in Pro E .The various inputs required for ANSYS and temperature distribution, thermal deformation, normal stress etc. are derived. From the resulting tabulation a conclusion is produced that which material is better to be used in exhaust manifold. Inputs are then given to ANSYS to analyse the stress developed in each case. From this the best possible result is obtained.
