Abstracts: This project shows all details of steam turbine which includes main elements and their function, types. “Why steam turbines trip in industries? And what are the possible troubles and causes of steam turbine tripping? And what is the procedure of solving steam turbine tripping problem?” all answers of these questions have been covered in this context. Steam turbine tripping is major problem in firm which reduces efficiency of generating power. Once turbine tripped it takes several days to restart and it is really difficult to achieve previous performance. Usually one problem causes another problem and it may lead to serious damage to the unit. Turbine often trips because of vibration. So, different sources and causes of vibration are mentioned here. Vibration may occur due to unbalancing, misalignment, bent shaft, loose wheel, piping strain etc. Among all these misalignment gains more losses rather than any other reasons. Misalignment may cause more power consumption thereby decreasing efficiency, high skilled labour required and more damage to the system. This report contains types of misalignment and different methods to detect misalignment between shafts.
