INTRODUCTION TO OUR RESEARCH
Research Objective:
To find out –
a) The most preferred / used brand of laptop by students
b) Factors which affect the students’ choice of laptops
Methodology:
Sources of data –
The data is basically primary in nature
It was obtained from the students pursuing graduation and post – graduation degrees
Method used : Convinience sampling. Questionnaire method. To serve the purpose, two separate questionnaires for: 1)students
2)dealers.
Growth of Laptop Market in India
A significant growth to 84.8% in 2007, contributing to the overall PC market growth of 25.1 per cent.
Few Reasons for rapid growth of laptops in India :
Convenience,flexibility and portability.
Steady drop in pricing for a laptop compared to desktop computers.
Students need laptop right after 10th standard
One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) plan maybe introduced
Employees are given personal laptops in big organisations.
Its not far that laptops becomes a basic necessity of every home, now-a-days we have laptops for children too.
What Price range is preferred by the students?
The price range preferred by majority, i.e 95% of our sample for buying a laptop was between Rs. 30,000 and 40,000.
Few may prefer to buy notebook laptops ranging from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 30,000
Whereas few of the samples preferred to give a minimal importance to price by marking as high as Rs. 60,000 for a laptop.
