Abstracts: A general overview of problems of vibration associated with the elevator system affecting the ride quality for passenger and the efficacy involved therein will be reviewed. A potential solution worked out for the vibration in elevator assembly will be reviewed & discussed considering aspects like; movement of the elevator car along the guide rails, effects of the spur gear assembly, pulley material etc. The substantial aspect is the aerodynamic consideration; during vertical travel of an elevator car within the hoist way, aerodynamic pulses from the hoist way doors and an aerodynamic pulse from the counterweight cause lateral movement and vibration in the elevator car. Special attention is given to the development of the novel material alternative for pulley followed up by future works in effects of using roller guides, using other types of gear assembly, tensioning of the ropes etc.
