PRINCIPLE :
Betz's law is a theory about the maximum possible energy to be derived from a "hydraulic wind engine", or a wind turbine such as the Éolienne Bollée (patented in 1868), the Eclipse Windmill (developed in 1867), and the Aermotor (first appeared in 1888 to pump water for cattle, and is still in production). Decades before the advent of the modern 3-blade wind turbine that generates electricity, Betz's law was developed in 1919 by the German physicist Albert Betz.
According to Betz's law, no turbine can capture more than 59.3 percent of the kinetic energy in wind. The ideal or maximum theoretical efficiency n max (also called power coefficient) of a wind turbine is the ratio of maximum power obtained from the wind to the total power available in the wind. The factor 0.593 is known as Betz's coefficient. It is the maximum fraction of the power in a wind stream that can be extracted.
CONSTRUCTION :-
It consists of a hollow shaft which used to transmit rotary motion from rotor assembly which is one of the most important part of our project to the electricity generating (generator).
In a project the basic part are rotor assembly, Centre shaft, stand, dynamo and electrical circuit, A rotor assembly two supporting wooden plates, having a hole in them to pass a shaft through them .
A turbine bucket shaped specially design a blade. There are 3 supporting rips to maintain the distance between upper & lower special design blade shape, a GI sheet (hot rolled) are used to cover 3/4 blade shape. These 3 blade attached at 120 degree of & the rotor assembly is mounted on the shaft with the help of pedestal bearings.
WORKING :-
As the wind flows it imparts of the blades are wind mills, whose shape is similar to the bucket of turbine. The flowing wind is trapped with in the motor & forces it to move whenever the rotor assembly is rotate, the shaft assembly is also rotates. shaft is pass through the pedestal bearing which held it rigidly & on the position .
At the end of the disk there is metallic plate which is directly connected with the shaft of the dynamo. The rotary motion of welded plate is transfer to the motion as the shaft of dynamo rotates electricity generates.
CONCLUSION :-
As the nature of wind is fluctuating one and torque developed within the wind turbine is directly proportional to the velocity of wind. So we cannot predict the actual electricity generates, but in our design the area of blade is greater so the volume of air trapped within the wind blade is greater. So definitely it is more efficient than wind mill with horizontal axis of blade & other design of wind mill.
