ABSTRACT:-
Stress is the general term applied to the pressure, people feel in life. The presence of stress at work is almost inevitable in most of jobs. However individual differences accounts for a wide range of reaction to stress. The study was conducted to find out the nature and extent of job stress experienced by people working at different levels in organizational hierarchy and to suggest remedial measures to overcome the problem of job stress for organizational development. A standard questionnaire was designed. The opinion gathered through questionnaire were classified and interpreted meaningfully. Both the primary and secondary data were extensively used. By analyzing the study it was found that 70% of the staff counteracts less stress and more than 60% of the employees are satisfied with their present job. In addition it was found that most of the employees require effective training programmes, recognitions, and welfare schemes. It was found that higher officials require empathy rather than being work oriented.
1. INTRODUCTION:
Current environment is the business environment as it is giving birth to the corporate advancement in the country. BPO sector is also becoming the part of it. It is ranked as the most preferable source of employment for the youngsters. In India, almost 70% of the total youngster population is doing job in the BPO. But it would be surprised that they are not becoming remain in the BPO for a long time period. The reason of this is that BPO sector is providing 32% sleep disorder, 25% digestive disorder and 20% eye-sight problem to the employees. Jobs in the BPO sector are giving many gifts to the employees like high stress level, Number of other illness and broken marriages. Currently, near about 80% organizations are suffering from this disease, consequently the overall job satisfaction of the employees is demolish. Stress is becoming inevitable these days in every organization and ultimately it is establishing to the Burnout.
1.1. THE EFFECT OF JOB STRESS ON EMPLOYEES PERFORMANCE IN BPO’s:-
Stress is the general term applied to the pressure, people feel in life. The presence of stress at work is almost inevitable in most of jobs. However individual differences accounts for a wide range of reaction to stress. A task viewed as challenging by one person may produce high levels of anxiety in another. When person’s emotions, employees develop various symptoms of stress that can harm their job performance and health, and even threaten their ability to cope with the environment. Stress also leads to physical disorder, because the internal body system changes to try to cope with stress. Stress leads to family problems. When Stress over prolonged it also leads to degenerative diseases of heart, kidney, blood pressure and parts of body.
1.2. CAUSES OF STRESS :-
Environmental Factors :-
Just as environmental influences the design of an organization Technology uncertainty is type of environmental factor that can causes stress because new innovations can make an employee’s skills and experience obsolete in a very short period of fire, robotics automation threat to employee. The various environmental factors used for this study are:
• Fast technological change
• Family demands and obligation
• Economic and financial Conditions
• Relocation
• Ethnic identity
Organizational Factors :-
There are no shortages of factors within the organization that can cause stress. Pressure to avoid errors or complete tasks in a limited time period, work overload. The various Organizational factors used for this study are:
• Unfair Performance evaluation
• Inequality in remuneration & incentives
• Leadership style
• fear of achieving target
• Pressure from superior
Task Demand :-
This is a factor related to a person’s job. They include the design of the individual job (autonomy, task variety, degrees of automation), working condition and the physical work layout.
Role Demand :-
This relates to pressure placed as a function of his particular role he or she plays in the organizations. Role conflict creates expectations that may be hard to reconcile or satisfy.
Interpersonal Demand :-
This is a pressure created by other employees. Back of social support from colleagues and poor interpersonal relationships can causes, considerable stress, especially among employees.
Organizational Leadership :-
It responds the managerial style of the organization’s senior executive some chief executive officer create a culture characterize by tension, fear an anxiety.
Individual Factors :-
The typical individual works about 40 to 50 hours a week. But the experience and problems that people encounter in those other 120- plus non work hours each week can spill over to the job. The Individual factors used for this study are
• Duration of Stress continues
• Complexity of the task
• One’s previous experience with the task
Family – the people hold family and personal relationship clear. Material difficulties, the breaking it of a relationship.
Economic – Economic problems created by individual over extending their financial resources is another set a personal troubles that can create stress for employees and distract their attention from their work.
Stress is the discomfort of an individual emotional disequilibrium is stress. Real life disequilibrium will not take the forms of stress unless it is realized from the heart and mind stress does not always have a negative impact is also a source for deep inspiration to work.
1.3. EFFECTS OF STRESS :-
The effects of stress are visible in different forms. Some person suffers from high blood pressure, ulcer and loss of appetite.
Physiological Effects :-
The impact of stress is mostly visible on one’s body
Stress affects metabolism
• Increases heartbeats
• Breathing rates
• Causes headache
• High blood pressure
Psychological Effects :-
Stress affects the body as well as mind of people. Physical and mental health adversary affected by stress.
• Mental tension
• Mental pressure
• Cancer is the after effect of secretion of negatively liquids of glands
Behavioral Impacts :-
• The impacts of stress have an ultimate although impacts on the behavior of people, although it has a direct impact on their mind and body
• It becomes moody, lazy and irritable. It resorts to bad practices like alcoholism, speculation, fidgeting, increased smoking and aloofness
1.4. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM :-
The research is done among the employees working in the BPO’s. This research deals with the effect of stress on the employee’s performance. This study also deals with various other problems like causes of stress, effect of stress, relationship with superiors and co-workers. The importance of this study is to formulate control measures to overcome employees stress.
1.5. OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY :-
To find out the causes of stress.
To identify the effect of stress.
To find out the techniques to overcome stress
1.6. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY :-
RESEARCH DESIGN
“A Research Design is the arrangement of conditions for the collection and analysis of data in a manner that aims to combine relevance of the research purpose with economy in procedure”. The Research Design used for this study is “Descriptive Research” whose purpose is to describe accurately the characteristics of a particular individual, or of a group.
DATA COLLECTION
Sources of Data :
The data are collected, both primary and secondary sources.
Tools for Data Collection :
The tool which is used for collecting primary data is structured questionnaire whereas secondary data are to be collected through Books, Magazines, Newspaper, Journals, and Electronic sources and from the organization.
Data Collection Method :
The primary data is collected through questionnaires.
Sample Size:
The sample size taken is 100 employees.
Sampling Method:
The sampling method adopted for this study is “Simple Random Sampling”
Research Tool:
Tools used for the research is Percentage Analysis and Chi-square test.
INTERPRETATION:
It is significant to note that majorities of each 36% of the Respondents are suffering from headache while they are in stress, 20% of the Respondents are feel absenteeism, Both 16% of them feel sleeping problem and nervous problem, 12%,8% of them say that inability to relax and chronic worry are the symptoms of Stress.
Relationship Between Service of employees and Measures of Relaxation.

CONCLUSION
The discussion made in this study proves that the stress on employees affect the production and other activities thus giving them enough training and giving information about stress will help them. Stress is the important factor that leads to cause psychological and physiological problems. Performance will decline people experience illness, brought on by very intensive stress and react to high stress through absenteeism turnover, errors, dissatisfaction and reduced performance. With reference to satisfaction, it may have some positive impact on job satisfaction which may be entered through performance. But most of the time, stress makes negative impact on satisfaction.
