Abstracts: Wire drawing is the process by which a wire of metal is reduced in cross section by forcing it through a series of dies during the drawing operation a plastic deformation is imparted to the material depending on the draw ability of the material. The wire drawing process depends on the material properties wire and die geometries and processing conditions drawing speed, friction at the die-wire interface. The wire drawing process is used to draw the Copper & Aluminum wires in desired sizes. These Aluminum & Copper wires are annealed at 350°C in oven for prolonged time. These annealed wires are used in Conform process of making Copper & Aluminum Strip. Copper strip manufactured by the Conform process is used in electrical products such as magnets, transformers and motors, where dimensional and electrical properties are important .The electrical properties meet the requirements of all standards for such products and are generally better than rolled products. There is no porosity or local variation in dimensions. Surface finish is excellent. The strip is ready for enamelling or paper/fibre/polymer insulation without any further treatment. The enamelling or paper/fibre/polymer insulation should have flash point of 110 °C and it is non-absorbent of oil and water. So this final product is known as Double Paper Covering Cable. There are numerous problems were observed while doing wire drawing process like burning of cables, bursting, friction between dies & wire, temperature rise in dies, length variation in cables and lubrications. Out of these problems we have chosen two problems regarding wire drawing process parameter i.e. lubrication and temperature effect. We want to solve these problems by referring different types of lubricant used in process. For the temperature effect, there is simulation of process by finite element analysis.
