Abstracts: N. R. INDUSTRIES has a Vertical CNC machining centre. This machining centre is able to do different types of machining operations like drilling, turning, grinding, boring, turning, facing, etc. This machine makes work pieces of Gear casings, which are being used in gear motors. To produce the gear casings it requires facing, boring and drilling operations to be carried out after the casted product. To carry out the sequence of operations on CNC vertical machining centre the product has to be loaded and unloaded for each operation and thus it increases production time and ultimately the production cost. Thus, an effort has been made to reduce the production cost and production time by reducing the loading and unloading time of the operation sequence by providing cradle. Cradle is one type of rotary table, which can be used to carry out machining without loading and unloading the work piece. At present, it takes about 30 to 45 minutes for loading and unloading the work piece after each operation. Thus, there is a huge scope for saving production time and ultimately the production cost. After the implementation of the cradle the loading and unloading time has been totally eliminated as it facilitates flexibility in operation sequence.
