I would like to have information about all modern surveying equipments including total station, gps and lidar specially parts and functioning of the instruments.
Modern topographic instruments provide a faster and more accurate topography than conventional instruments. Their types and uses are discussed in this article.
In conventional surveying, the chain and ribbon are used for linear measurements, while the compass and ordinary theodolites are used for angular measurements. The leveling work is performed using a Dumpy level and a leveler. With such survey instruments, the survey will be slow and tedious.
Hence modern surveying instruments are becoming more popular and are gradually replacing old surveying instruments such as compass and Dumpy level. With modern survey instruments, survey work will be accurate, faster and less tedious.
Modern surveying instruments and their uses
The following are the modern surveying instruments used for surveying:
• Electronic distance measuring instruments (EDM)
• Total station
• Global Positioning System (GPS)
• Automatic level
