Racking system in every industry and company is very much important. As racking system is used for material handling purposes. Pallet rack is a material handling storage aid system designed to store materials on pallets (or skids). Although there are many varieties of pallet racking, all types allow for the storage of palletized materials in horizontal rows with multiple levels. Forklifts trucks are usually an integral part of any pallet rack system as they are usually required to place the loaded pallets onto the racks for storage. Since the Second World War, pallet racks have become an essential and ubiquitous element of most modern warehouses manufacturing facilities, retail centers, and other storage and distribution facilities. All types of pallet racking create some level of increase storage density with the least dense being the least expensive and cost increasing with storage density. Selective rack is the least dense at a cost of about per pallet position up to gravity flow pallet rack which can per pallet position.

PROJECT REPORT
ON
DESIGNING and MANUFACTURING OF RACKS.
INTRODUCTION:
A rack is a material handling storage aid system designed to store materials. As there are many types of racking but my project is on PALLET racking.
WHAT IS PALLET RACKING:
Pallet rackingis the most common pallet racking system in use today. Selective pallet racking typically come in one of two configurations: aroll formed, or clip-in configuration, and astructuralbolt-together configuration.
As racking is very much important in each and every industry
Components of pallet rack include the following:
· LOAD BEAMS
· UPRIGHT BEAM
· DIAGONAL FRAME
12 foot height racks i.e. PALLET RACKING system
WHY THERE IS NEED OF RACKS:
As when my training starts in June then the environmental structure of the company was good
But as the time progresses due to high work load on each and every worker. The systematic working of the company starts under pressure day by day’s the time progresses in mid of my industrial training. An idea comes in my mind to improve the environment of the company.
As I give my idea to my training incharge MR R.S GILL my idea was to manufacture the PALLET racking system so that the materials should be handled systematically. After 2 3 days my training manager SIR called me and take reviews about my ideas about material handling. PALLET racking
SIR praised me for my ideas as it is company’s STATUS
As the racking system in each and every company is very must essential
As in this company materials were not systematically placed. As OK
And REJECTED materials were placed in the same place .So it is very much important to placed separately .So that during dispatching of the materials it becomes easy.
As starting of the September my project was started to work under production
MATERIALS USED IN THE PALLET RACKING SYSTEM:
· M.S (MILD STEEL)Sheets
· 4 angles on the both corners of the racks
· 4 Brackets for the supporting
· 6 trays on which material is to be handled
DESCRIPTION:
Each rack includes 6 trays of 2 different colors alternately assembled.Mainly green and white colour trays were there.
Each rack should have four on the both corners almost 12 foot in height having 84 holes and these angles were bend at 90 degree.
As in the tables just like that one IMAGE of the one rack as shown above
After dat on each side of the angle at the ending and tray brackets were bolted very well for the support
Spray painting were done on the angles i.e green colour spray painiting
For support and attachment of each and every rack and strip were punched having same holes as there were in the angles
As for the strong strenght at the back side of each rack there was stainless sheet bolted very well having same no of holes
ANGLES AND STRIPS USED IN ASSEMBLING OF THE PALLET RACKS
NUTS & BOLTS USED IN THE ASSEMBLY OF THE RACKS
TRAYS WHICH IS USED FOR SUPPROTING THE MATERIALS &
TRAYS USED IN THE ASSEMBLING OF MATERIALS
MARKING OF THE HOLES IS VERY IMPORTANT DURING THE ASSEMBLY OF RACKS AS IF THE HOLES MATCHED CORRECTLY THEN THE RACK GETS ASSEMBLED IN THE TILTED MANNER
AS I AM UNDERGOING THE MARKING OF THE HOLES
AS in this picture one rack was 50 % assembled as only trays and 2 supporting angles were connected and I was undergoing the assembly of a rack
SIDE VIEW OF A RACK WHICH 90% ASSEMBLED. AS ON THE UPPER SIDE OF THE RACK THERE IS A STAINLESS SHEET WHICH IS ASSEMBLED WITH THE RACK FOR SUPPORT
AS MYSELF AND MY COLLAGAUE UNDERGOING THE ASSEMBLY OF A RACK WHICH IS ALMOST FINISHED
FRONT VIEW OF A TWO RACKS WHEN THEY GET JOINED WITH THE HELP OF NUT AND BOLT THEN IT WILL BECOME PALLET RACKING SYSTEM
AS LIKE THESE RACKS THERE 15 RACKS WHICH IS JOINED IN THE SAME ROW
THESE RACKS WERE ASSEMBLED AND DESIGNED FOR THE PANCHKULA PLANT as BRITISHERS WERE ON THE VISIT FROM NORWAY in the October end
SIDE VIEW OF A RACK
Finalized view of my project work i.e. racks used in the material handling. It is known as PALLET RACKING as 15 racks were joined all together in a row
As these racks were for panchkula plant and for Chandigarh same racks designed and assembled but of different colors
NOW I am in the last month of my training I m very glad as my project work was useful for the company
Now rejected and O.K material were placed at different sites and racks
As it becomes easy for company’s ENGG to clarify while dispatching and inspection of the material
FOR my PROJECT WORK it takes hardly 45 days for proper production and assembly of the material
AS I am very much thankful to my training Manager and Training incharge for supporting me during my project work
IN short this my best experience of my life
