INTRODUCTION
Disk brake is a device which converts the kinetic energy of a vehicle into heat energy and also sometimes in sound energy ,which ultimately
stops the car.The energy conversion
MAIN COMPONENTS OF HYDRAULIC BRAKING SYSTEM
# Disk rotor (cast iron) (ventilated)-ventilated disk is being used because due to harsh and regular braking ,heating of disk will occur and
this will lead to fading effect which will lead to inefficient braking.so ventilated disk is being used as it stays cooler than non ventilated.
# caliper-the caliper assembly is attached to steering knuckle (single piston) (floating type)(kbx)
#disk pads-normal brass disk pads are available in the market and are also used in maruti 800 and are very economical. But due to brass fading
effect takes place .so we have decided to use ceramic disk pads who are approximately double in cost but are more efficient .
USE OF ALL WHEELED DISK BRAKES :-
It’s clearly written in the rulebook 2011-12 that on the application of the brake, all the wheels must lock simultaneously. As there is always a lag between disk and drum brakes ,therefore use of disk brakes on all the wheels are preferred. Although installation of Parking Brake System or Hand Brakes becomes easier when we use drum brakes.
DISK BRAKES PARK BRAKE ASSEMBLY:-
Park Brake Assembly requires a wired combination of the hand lever and the locking system. It locks the rear wheels instantly on pulling the hand brake lever.
WHY TMC:-
Its dual master cylinder and is very safe as it provides us with two outputs.
It consists of two pistons arranged co-axial to each other. The two channels gives the required outputs.
DIAGONAL ARRANGEMENT :-
Diagonal Arrangement is more safe as if one of the supplies fails then also the brakes will work with 50% efficiency. The brakes are arranged in diagonal manner. For eg. The front left part is attachad to the right rear part and right front to left rear.So this arrangement works efficiently even on 50% efficiency.
PROPORTIONING VALUE:-
To provide balance in front and rear wheels correct proportioning is we came to a conclusion that front brakes will work at an efficiency of 45% and rear on 55% efficiency.
DESIGNING:-
For designing the braking system this year, we calculated the weight of our vehicle in static condition as well as in dynamic condition as per the deceleration (0.6 g) and stopping distance. In static condition it is around 78.75kg on each front tire and 96.25kg each on the rear tire. But in dynamic conditions, we consider weight to be 87.5kg on each tire, the front and the rear. We have calculated the dynamic weight using the formulae as given below:
