Objective of Project:
Composite floor (/Profile deck) is a structurally efficient combination of constituents i.e. concrete on steel sheeting. As a result it contributes to a significant cost reduction during construction (no form work, quick installation, reduced dimensions and savings in materials) but at the same time it poses new challenges that are addressed in the project work. The objectives of the project are assessment of horizontal shear resistance of the deck and development of optimum design procedure for the composite floor.
Main outcome of the project is as follows:
· A number of slip block tests are carried out by changing profiles for assessment of horizontal shear resistance of composite slabs
· This experiment data base is used to train an ANN for prediction of horizontal shear resistance of composite floors
· A GA based optimization process is developed using developed ANN
