Mivan is the name of the company that invented the "Aluminum Form-work". Therefore, it is often called mivan form-work as in India we call fresh drink as pepsi or coconut cola and toothpaste as colgate.
In the mivan form-work we can mold the entire slab, beam, column at one time making the unit a composite structure.

Uses of Mivan Formwork:
O 3S - Construction System - Speed, Strength, Safety
O The construction of columns and beams is eliminated
O The walls and slabs are melted in a single operation
O Specially designed, easy to handle lightweight pre-engineered aluminum shapes
O Assembly and assembly of the part of the formwork
O Making concreting of walls and slabs
Advantage:
O Mivan formwork requires relatively less labor
O More seismic resistance
O Greater durability
O Fewer joints and reduced leakage
O Highest carpet area
O Smooth finish of wall and slab
O Uniform quality of construction
O insignificant maintenance
O Faster Termination
Limitations:
Although there are so many advantages of the Mivan form-work the limitations can not be ignored. However, the limitations pose no serious problem. They are the following:
O Due to the few sizes small finishing lines are seen on concrete surfaces
O Services after completion become a bit difficult due to the small width of the components
O Uniform planning is required as well as uniform elevations to be profitable
O Formwork requires number of spacer, wall loops etc that are placed @ 2 feet c / c; These produce problems such as leaks, leaks during the monsoon
O Because of the box type construction, shrinkage cracks are likely to appear
O The heat of hydration is high due to the cutting walls
O It is of rigid design once placed, since any alteration becomes more difficult after
