Abstracts: Our main aim of selecting the project is to prevent the failure of sucker rod pump. As the sucker rod pump is facing the different types of problems such as fluid pounding, abrasion, corrosion, and other is solid materials carried away while extracting the oil here we are going to work on the different methods to cure such type of problems so that we can reduce pounding effects and pump failure. We have studied different manual books and researched on internet we came to conclusion that whenever pump works under high pressure and high temperature it face the problems of breaking of polished rod because when it performs up stroke and down stroke sometimes travelling valve doesn’t open when it have to open up so which results into heavy load on the polished rod hence which results into the pump failure so we would be concentrating on the pounding effects and finally we would be using different type of sucker rods and proper clamping device so that the rod string is properly aligned with the polished rod in this way we are going to prevent the breaking of the polished rod. Other problem is abrasion in which when oil moves with too fast motion in the inner cylinder it washes away the material of cylinder results into impurity in flow of oil. Hence we are curing this by using counter sunk operation so that we can control the excess flow of oil into the cylinder or otherwise we can use fibre glass interior. We are going to make such type of ball valve mechanism which on performing the strokes open and closes according to its respective operations hence it could distribute the load on the polished rod so that we can cure the pump failure. This can be done by the counter sunk operation and providing very small gap for the oil to move into the plunger so that small gap will exert higher pressure to the ball valve. Hence we are able to reduce pounding effects in this way also maintaining non uniform diameter of polished rod we get variations in load and hence increase in the efficiency
