Abstracts: This report presents characteristics of a new catalytic converter to be used for Suzuki max 100 engine. The catalytic converter were developed based on catalyst materials suggest copper with wire mesh substrate and around ceramic materials. The original engine manufacture catalytic converter was tested for exhaust emission for the engine. It is experimentally found that the conversion efficiencies of copper based catalytic converter for CO2, CO and HC emissions. It is calculated that the copper based Catalytic converter reduces 2 to 4%, 2 to 10ppm, 15 to 45ppm higher CO2, CO and HC emissions. The objective of this paper is to Develop a low-cost copper based catalytic converter to be used with the newly developed Open SI engine. Detailed review on catalytic converter, low-cost catalytic converter development characteristics and SI engine test results have been presented with discussions.
