Works Committee
(1) In the case of any industrial establishment where there are one hundred or more workers employed or have been employed on any day of the preceding twelve months, the appropriate government may order the employer, in a general or special order, to constitute in the prescribed manner a Committee of Works composed of representatives of the employers and of the workers participating in the establishment, so that, however, the number of representatives of the workers in the Committee shall not be less than the number of representatives of the employer. The representatives of the workers shall be elected in the prescribed manner from the workers participating in the establishment and in consultation with their union, if any, registered under the Indian Trade Unions Act of 1926 (16 of 1926).
2) The Works Committee shall have the obligation to promote measures to ensure and preserve the friendship and good relations between the employer and the workers and to this end, comment on matters of common interest and try to compose any material differences of opinion regarding of such matters.
