The specific focus was on the impact of a newly installed component of the Vocera system, the Vocera messaging interface, which enables connectivity between third-party systems, such as a nurse call system. The results of the nurse call integration research confirmed that the use of the integrated communication system reduced the overall average time to complete a patient request by 51% in all observations by controlling the type of observation. In addition, the analysis of the use of the system by the clinicians for different types of patient applications revealed that allows the clinician to have more control in the prioritisation and response to the requests according to the severity of the event.
The ring system is one of the devices that are needed for patients in the hospital. Patients can use it in emergencies and call nurses for help. Patients who have a tracheal tube can not make the requests simpler, and do not have verbal communication due to tracheal tube or tracheostomy tube. According to the surveys, the survival of patients is 55.5% in the intensive care unit (ICU). They experience severe stressful conditions. This project is designed to solve communicational problems for ICU patients. The device panel contains a touchpad, which consists of symbols that allow patients to select them despite their physical limitation. When the patient touches any symbol, the message will be sent and listened by the nurse and the patient as well, so the patient will be sure that the massage is received correctly. A notepad device will be used in which patients are able to write as well. It is finger touch, and has virtual keywords in both Persian and English alphabets. Voice messages and other data will be transmitted to the computer at the central nurse station by a wireless access point. In this study, we evaluated the point of view of nurses and patients who have used this device. Results: 40 questionnaires were distributed, but 30 cases were collected. The results showed that 26.7% (8 cases) were men, 73.3% (22 cases) women. 26.7% (23 cases) were nurses, 6.7% (2 cases), 6.7% (2 cases) nurse assistant. 33.3% (9 cases) were in the morning shift, 66.7% (21 cases) worked in other shifts. About 60% (6 cases) were men, 40% (4 cases) women and in 98% of the comments were fully compatible and the device was full consent. Conclusion: The Nurse Call system caused patient satisfaction. In addition, this device solved many problems of the patients and allowed to have an active communication with them.
