DTH in World:
JAPAN has introduced DTH technology based on YURI satellite in 1978.
In U.S., Direc TV has implemented DTH communication in 1994.
In Europe, DTH is developed before cable and now controls nearly 80 percent of total television subscriber base. But in US, cable rules because it came before DTH.
DTH in India:
India has built INSAT series satellites from ISRO along with private operators.
INSAT-2E, INSAT-3C, INSAT-3E carry multiple channels for Indian television viewers.
DTH service is providing Doordarshan, ZEE Entertainment, STAR TV & Sony Television.
The cable system is well entrenched in India and is showing quite rapid growth. If DTH had come to India in 1996-97 then it could have made a significant breakthrough.
Conclusion:
The audio & video quality of DTH technology is vary high compared with cable TV.
DTH Service is available in remote area.
We have to pay for channels that we want to see.
Atmosphere can affect the broadcasting process in this technology.
