Abstracts: Earthquakes are one of the greatest hazards to life and infrastructure on the earth. In past history, it has been observed that some of the greatest earthquakes on the earth as well as in the water surface level have caused great loss to human life and property. Therefore, structural design and analysis becomes primary aspect of Civil Engineering. The very basis before construction of any building, residential, house or dam, culverts, canals etc. becomes analyzing and designing. Considering this fact, it becomes a primary objective to make the structure earthquake resistant. In this project, efforts are made to make the structure earthquake resistant. In this project, the behavior of low rise structure under seismic condition is studied. In this, G+ 5 RC building structure is studied along with its behavior under seismic loads using IS: 1893-2002. In the primary stage, analysis of a multi-storeyed building is done by conventional (manual) calculation and then by STAAD.PRO. Further, the result obtained is compared to the result of the analysis of the same structure calculated by the known structure engineer, Mr. H. J. Shah. In the second stage, designing of the analyzed structure is carried out by conventional method as well as by software approach. This comparison is necessary to obtain an easy, effective, efficient and feasible incentive for the same.
