Abstracts: Looking to the past records of earthquake, there is increase in the demand of earthquake resisting building which can be fulfilled by providing the shear wall systems in the buildings. It is essential to explore all possibilities to achieve economy by selection of lateral load resisting systems at the preliminary design stage, since investigation have indicated that 80% of the project cost is committed by the time 20% of the design has been completed. Further, in the present age of ever increasing costs, the majority of the clients of building projects are insisting on projects being designed and executed to give maximum value of money. For achieving economy in reinforced concrete building structures, design of critical section is carefully done to get reasonable concrete sizes and optimum steel consumption in members. This step may result in a small economy of 3% to 5% of the building cost. More substantial economy in structural design can be achieved by choosing a suitable lateral load structural system for a given. Also due to the major earthquakes in the recent pasts the codal provisions revised and implementing more weightage on earthquake design of structure. The decision regarding provision of shear wall to resist lateral forces play most important role in choosing the appropriate structural systems for given project. Hence professionals are employed to work as a team to an increasing extent during the conceptual design stage. As buildings become more complex and building clients more exacting in their requirements, so it becomes necessary to improve and refine the cost control tools. In this project work, moment occur at the particular column has been studied using the software tool STRUDS -2010. Further using this software, moment occur at a particular column including the seismic load, by taking different lateral load resisting structural systems, different number of floors, different position of shear wall for earthquake zone III has been found for G + 13 stored building.
