Abstracts: Configuration of a building is very much important for good seismic performance of the building. The important aspects affecting seismic configuration of a building are overall geometry, structural system and load parts. To make the structure having good asthetics and functionally effective, both shape of the building and structural system of the building must have to be sound enough. The wide range of the damages observed during past earthquakes across the world due to poor configuration of the building. In simple language building with simple geometry in plan have performed well during strong earthquake. But building with complex shape particularly with projections , re entrant corners have sustained significant damages. These bad effects of re-entrant corners in plan of the building may be avoided by separating the building in different parts having simple shapes .Architectural features that are most vulnerable to earthquake damage of the building should be avoided. When irregular shapes are included in a building, a higher level of engineering efforts is required to make the structure good earthquake resistant and then also it may not behave as good as with simple architectural features. In our study it has been planned to analyse a building having irregular shape under the effect of earthquake loading. Comparison between building having irregular shape and building having simple plan will be done by using latest softwareaid.
