Fungicidal management of powdery mildew of apple
ABSTRACT
Apple (Malus domestica Borhk.) is one of the most important fruit crops of Himachal Pradesh and the economy of the state primarily depends upon this highly remunerative crop. Powdery mildew of apple incited by Podosphaera leucotricha is one of the most important disease of nursery and grown up trees. Every season, powdery mildew in dry climate affects tender growth of plants and cause russeting of fruits and has been appearing in moderate to severe form. The spray applications of various fungicides were evaluated under field conditions for managing the disease at Kotkhai, Himachal Pradesh. Among the test fungicides: trifloxystrobin+ tebuconazole, pyraclostrobin+metiram, pyraclostrobin+ boscalid, zineb + hexaconazole, captan+hexaconazole, difenoconazole, hexaconazole, flusilazole and carbendazim were found to be quite effective against powdery mildew of apple in comparison to control.
