Training is an organised procedure for increasing the knowledge and skill of people for a specific purpose. The trainees acquire new skill, technical knowledge, problem solving ability etc. training improve the performance of employees on present jobs and prepares them for taking new assignment in future.

DEVELOPMENT
It is a long-term educational process utilising a systematic and organised procedure by which managerial personnel learn conceptual and theoretical knowledge for general purpose.
EDUCATION
It is concerned with the study of particular syllabus and it is generally acquired in some institutions before joining a service. It is used in broader sense involving the development of an individual socially, intellectually and physically.
NEEDS AND IMPORTANCE OF TRAINING
INCREASED PRODUCTIVITY
Increased skill and efficiency result in better quantity and quality of production.
HIGHER EMPLOYEE MORALE
A trained worker derives happiness and job satisfaction from his work. He feels happy when his performance is upto the mark. This also give him job security and ego satisfaction.

RESPONSIVE TO NEEDS
training should be able to help in achieving the objective for which it is imparted. Those who undergo training want to improve their performance or want a solution to their problem which are being faced at work.
REWARDS AND PUNISHMENTS
There should be rewards and punishment attached to a training programme. Individual do things that give happiness and avoids thing that give pain. Those who improve after learning should be encouraged and those who don’t learn should be punished. This will create awareness and interest in training programme.
Improving effectiveness of training
Training Objectives- There should be certain specific certain objectives. Unless and until there is no objective a training programme will be of no use.
Motivation of Trainees- Employees should not only be trained but should also be motivated to join the training programmes.
Use of previous training- Training imparted previously should be taken into consideration before and while training the employees.

Executive development is a systematic process for learning the abilities of managing.
It is a long drawn process. It cannot take place over night.
It is an effort to improve the performance of individuals by realising their full potential
The development of capabilities is to achieve desired objectives.
