Evaluation of Fungitoxicants against Fusarium solani Causing Tuber rot Disease of Kala zeera [Bunium persicum (Bioss) Fedtsch].
ABSTRACT
Six fungi toxicants, both systemic (hexaconazole 5EC, myclobutanil 10WP & carbendazim 50WP @ 0.02, 0.03 & 0.04 %) and non-systemic (mancozeb 75WP, captan 50WP & copper oxychloride 50WP @ 0.2, 0.3 & 0.4 %) were evaluated in vitro against F. solani (causal organism of tuber rot disease of Kala zeera). Hexaconazole 5EC at 0.03 & 0.04 % proved highly superior amongst the systemic fungitoxicants inhibiting spore germination and mycelial growth of F. solani while amongst non-systemic fungitoxicants mancozeb 75WP @ 0.4 % exhibited complete inhibition against the pathogen. In vivo evaluation of fungi toxicants revealed that hexaconazole 5EC @ 0.03 and 0.04% was most effective in reducing the disease incidence (6.31 and 5.48 % as compared to 28.31 % recorded in check).
