Abstracts: Solid waste management is the thrust area. Our project proposes the use of waste materials such as waste tyre rubber and plastic waste are of great concern. On the other side the road traffic is increasing. The traffic intensity is increasing and the load bearing capacities of the road are also increased. Our project work is helping to take care of both these aspects. Plastic waste consisting LDPE(low density polyethylene) and HDPE(high density polyethylene) can be used as a blending material with bitumen and this can be used for surface course of flexible pavement in road construction. Secondly the waste tyres are powdered (30 mesh) and the powder is blended with bitumen and this blend is also used as a surface course of flexible pavement in road construction. So by using above materials they proposes to increase the strength, durability, rutting and water resistance as well as providing a mean to dispose of wastes. We can check the above materials are use in flexible pavement by Marshall Stability test or Marshall Stability Design, Penetration test and Softening point test, Ductility test.
