Abstracts: The aluminum pipes which are used in a space applications, pneumatic cylinders tubes,barrel of the revolver, aluminum tubes for waveguide ,bomb disposal manipulators, require very smooth inner surface finishing and with the accuracy of microns . Aluminum pipes which are made by a cold extrusion process faces the problem of poor inner surface finish . The present study was done to identify the causes which are responsible for the poor inner surface finish in aluminum pipes and at what context they effect on the i.d. finish of pipes.The root causes which are identified are 1)faulty tool set-up 2) raw aluminum pipes with poor i.d finish 3)lubricant oil 4)the tool(plug) used for cold extrusion process. By doing work on the each root causes we can find the exact cause which is responsible for poor i.d finish,This cause is the WPS plug used for the cold extrusion process has a poor o.d finish .The solution of the problem is use of tc plug which has a good o.d finish and by the implementation of solution we get i.d finish with micron accuracy. The scope of this project is that by working on the o.d finish of the plug used for a cold extrusion process and by changing the shape of the plug we can improve the inner surface finish of the aluminium pipes.
