In the present work, research was carried out on usefulness of fly ash as an adsorbent for cadmium ions removal from synthetic wastewater. In present work, fly ash collected from Renu Sagar, Uttar Pradesh has been used as adsorbent. The fly ash was collected from The influence of various operating parameters such as initial metal ion concentration (10ppm-100ppm), adsorbent dosage (10-60g/L), solution pH (2-12), contact time (0.5-4h) were investigated. Point of zero charge of fly ash was determined by solid addition method. The equilibrium data obtained was analyzed for isotherm study using famous Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin isotherm models. Adsorption was found to be endothermic in nature. Kinetics of the experiment was studied using pseudo-first order,pseudo-second order model and Elovich kinetic models. However, when a comparative adsorption of Copper, Cadmium and Nickel was done to examine the selectivity in the adsorption process, the percent removal of copper was far greater than that of cadmium, suggesting that removal of cadmium is achieved with little success i
