Abstracts: Construction is one of the significant sectors of Indian economy and is an integral part of the development. There is growing realization today that speed of construction needs to be given greater importance especially for large housing projects. This is not only essential for the faster turnover of equipment and investment – leading possible to the reduction in the housing cost but also for achieving the national objective of creating a large stock to overcome shortest possible time. One of the most important factors in determining the success of a construction project in terms of speed, quality cost and safety of work is the formwork used in the project as it accounts about 40% of the total project cost of the structure. We observed that as a nation with one of the best development ratios, we are still very hesitant in using the advanced formwork technologies even though we know its significance. So a study of PERI and MIVAN formwork technologies was undertaken at Savvy Swaraaj Sports Living and Godrej Garden City, Ahmedabad. We studied the working of PERI and MIVAN formwork technologies and compared it with conventional formwork systems. We found that the duration of completion of the project was reduced considerably, the reuses of PERI and MIVAN systems is around 250 as compared to 6-7 of conventional formwork, the labour costs are reduced significantly as there is only usage of unskilled labourers and time is less, the quality obtained of the finishing is astonishing and the process of grinding and compaction are eliminated and direct plastering can be done. There is great benefit to the environment as no trees are needed to chop and so we have coined it as ‘Green Formwork’. Seeing the colossal benefits we advocate the use of these formwork systems to be used more often and will always try to make an awareness and do our bit.
