ABSTRACT
Main purpose of this project is the designing, fabrication and implementation of automatic control system in the form of an automatic antenna tracking system. We therefore designed a control system for automatically controlling the rotation of antenna and as well as the system should have the capability of providing the feedback in the form of updated position information to the control system for further instructions, that’s results in pointing correctly towards the detected or tracked beacon.
The overall system is composed of two parts base unit and the beacon. The overall system was supposed to be build around microcontroller & personnel computer, the tracking circuitry was supposed to be driven through the microcontroller where antenna position update is shown on personnel computer through the serial port. Thus the two antennas are used on the base unit that provides the reception of RF signal radiated from beacon and measuring the received signal strength indicator which results in moving the motor accordingly where the both antennas received RF signal equally. For implementation of our idea we basically used the 433 MHz transmitter & receivers VHF/ UHF spectrum.
By the grace of ALLAH our designed and fabricated system is fully capable of tracking desired RF object and is capable of pointing towards it quickly and accurately. The RF (radio frequency) is one of the most common parts of communication.
This project is done due to the inspiration from satellite communication background & has vast applications in various areas like radio direction finding, tracking aircraft or radio astronomy.
