Functionalities of Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) Software
HMIS was developed by Information Technology Group of CES (CES Technologies) with the assistance of professionals from the Health Care Group (FAITH). It is a comprehensive Hospital Management Information System that takes care of all functional aspects of all types of hospitals. Apart from key hospital management modules, a comprehensive stores and inventory module along with the fully atomized pharmacy and laboratory module aims at providing better efficient easy and accurate services to the patient. The system has the flexibility to make it functional across multiple locations. Its modular design enables computerization in phases. The system functionality is controlled by a comprehensive security facility spread over layers of users.
The package will help the users, viz. the hospital administrators, doctors and other staff to keep track of every tit bits of the activities performed in the various departments of the hospital. The main advantage of the package is that the user of a particular module can have his/her information readily available without the help or assistance of the users of other module. Depending on the characteristics of a particular hospital, provision for customization is there to satisfy the specific needs of the hospital. For having better reach to patient the system can be enhanced with web based interfaces for Patient Registration and other key areas.
Features
Centralized and Collated data repository
Instant access to the formatted data
Authenticated and Authorized access to strengthen security
Advanced Query management leading to instant results
Export results to deliverable formats such as MS Excel, PDF, DOC, MS Access etc.
Technology Proposed
The entire solution is developed using Microsoft Technologies on a Client Server Architecture platform. This technology is highly scalable and provides optimal performance. The security features of this technology are well explored and embedded in the solution.
The backend database will be on Oracle, which supports huge data transactions with secured access and optimal performance. This is highly scalable. How ever the system can be ported to other RDBMS also.
Reception Module
Reception is the first point of interaction for anybody coming to the Hospital. It has all the information of the patients, doctors, departments and activities of the Hospital. All enquiries and appointments are scheduled through this module. In the enhanced mode this facility will be available on web.
All information available here are in real time and any enquiry about the patient status, Room Status, Doctors availability or tariff's for various services is on actual status since the data is constantly updated.
Patient Registration Module
Every patient who visits the hospital has to get registered prior to getting any consultation, treatment or investigations done. Registration of patients involves accepting certain general and demographic information about the patient. The patient is allocated a unique Registration number and a Patient Identification number. The Patient ID will remain same for his all subsequent visits to the hospital whereas he will be allocated a new registration number on every visit. Patient Registration can be under three types, viz. registration for pay clinic, general clinic and specialists’ clinic. The Registration charge (which varies depending upon the type of Registration) can be collected from the patients during registration and a receipt will be generated. The consultation charges (if applicable) can also be collected for the OPD patients during registration and a receipt will be generated.
Store Inventory Module
This module deals with the inventory of all Hospital Equipments, Materials, Consumables, Medicines, Implants & Asset items in different departments of the hospital along with their purchase and supplier details. Requisitions for different items/equipment are sent to this store from different departments and accordingly the Central Store issues items/equipment to various departments and generate purchase orders for purchases. This also maintains records of purchases, stock, and supplier list, item/equipment/material master tables.
MRD Management
Patient's Medical record data is critical for the analysis and research purposes. This data includes patient history, clinical findings, diagnosis and therapeutic conclusions along with the tests details and serves as a source of information for any analysis and research. The purpose for this module is to utilize the patient's medical information and use it for analysis.
