Abstracts: Gas carburizing in batch furnaces is a widely adapted procedure used for surface hardening, yet it faces some challenges in performance reliability and process control. The quality of the carburized parts is determined based on the hardness and case depth required for a particular application and on compliance with the specifications and tolerances. Therefore, to ensure a satisfactory and reliable service life of the carburized parts. It is imperative to understand the mechanism of carbon transfer and to accurately predict carbon concentration profile and case depth during the heat treatment process.
