India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO), based in Prague Maidan, is the nodal agency of the Government of India under the aegis of the Ministry of Trade and Industry (India) to promote the country's foreign trade. ITPO is a Central Public Sector Company of Category 1 of Mini-Ratna (CPSE) with a 100 percent stake of the Government of India.
In January 2016, ITPO awarded to NBCC more than a 2100 crore project for the construction of the Integrated Exhibition and Convention Center (IECC) as part of the Pragati Maidan redevelopment. The IECC project was set in motion by the formation of an ad hoc Committee of Secretaries (COSs) of all concerned ministries to host the G20 summit in 2018. However, India lost at the Summit of the G20 due to the delay in IECC project and the lack of substitute place of encounter.
The project received much media attention due to the demolition of the Pavilion of Nations and the Nehru Pavilion by ITPO in April 2017, following the approval of the Delhi High Court.
