INTRODUCTION
Drugs are the essential tools for the physician for the prevention and management of the diseases and maintenance of health.
The herbs grown in fertile lands, even in small quantities full of healing properties, fragrance, natural colour, taste free from defects, unaffected by fungi, insects, termites, not disfigured are the best suited for the preparation of the medicine.
CULTIVATION
Phytochemical aspects in view.
Less on the quantity of plants produced and much more on their quality.
Better to use natural fertilizers and pesticides.
Land – fertile and clean and open to seasonal rains, sunlight and wind.
STORAGE OF RAW MATERIALS
It should be clean, hygienic, and spacious.
High ceiling and well ventilated, water proof, flooring should be smooth and washable.
It should be free from heat, moisture, humidity, smoke, dust, rodents and other pests.
Protect the drugs from the impact of seasonal changes.
Proper storage of raw materials is essentials to retain their therapeutic efficacy.
SETUPMENT
Store house should face the road, but not far from it.
Drugs should be kept in clean containers, or in bags with properly labeled, closed ,sealed and wrapped.
Periodically fumigated and disinfected.
If stored by groups, they are no hard to locate when needed.
Poisonous and rare drugs should be kept under lock.
CONCLUSION
For the cultivation of drugs in the field trained labourers should be employed and the collection should be done under the supervision.
Proper storage of raw materials is essential to retain their therapeutic efficacy. They may deteriorate due to different chemical, biological or physical effects.
For the production standard remedies procurement of genuine and standard raw material are highly essential.
