Abstracts: Buildings have major environmental impacts throughout their entire life cycle. Resources such as ground cover, forests, water, and energy are depleted to construct and operate buildings. Energy-consuming systems provide comfort to its occupants. Water is another vital resource for the occupants, which gets consumed continuously. Several building processes and occupant functions generate large amounts of waste. Thus, buildings are one of the major pollutants that affect urban air quality and contribute to climate change. Hence, the need to design a green building, is the essence of which would be to address all these issues in an integrated and scientific manner. It costs more to design and construct a energy efficient green building but it costs less to operate a energy efficient green building, that has tremendous environmental benefits and provides a better place for the occupants to live and work in. As the economy is the main aspect for most of the Indian people to construct a home, to live in, in this project, attempt will be to prove the same thing with the Economic point of view for initial (short) and Long time periods. Energy efficient green building maximizes the use of environmentally efficient building materials and construction practices; optimizes the use of on-site sources and sinks by bio-climatic architectural practices; uses minimum energy to power itself; uses efficient equipment to meet its lighting, air-conditioning, and other needs; maximizes the use of renewable sources of energy; uses efficient waste and water management practices; and provides comfortable and hygienic indoor working conditions. In this project, main aim is to compare the cost of construction for a residential building, as a Conventional Building and Energy efficient green building, and to provide the best suitable, economic and locally available materials and alternatives for the energy efficient green building. In the lobby of major Architects and Delegates of the world, contributing to build a “Green Environment” it is accepted that before about 10 years, the cost increased by 15-16% to construct a Energy efficient green building rather than a Conventional Building. And the payback period was about 8-10 years. And at the present time, the cost is increased by 3-4% to construct a Energy efficient green building rather than a Conventional Building. And the payback period is reduced to 2-3 years.
