Abstracts: For variety of reasons, the concrete construction industry is not sustainable. Firstly, it consumes huge quantity of virgin materials .Secondly, the principle binder material of concrete is Portland cement ,the production of which is major contributor to green house gases emission that are implicated in global warming and climatic change. Thirdly, many concrete structures suffer from lack of durability which has an adverse effect on the resource productivity of the industry. The adoption of fly ash in the concrete eliminates all the above mentioned problems. In this project, a brief review of theory and construction practice with the concrete mixtures containing more than 50% of fly ash by mass of cement material is included. The project also consists of comparing the conventional concrete with the fly ash concrete .By replacing the cement with the certain amount of fly ash in the concrete; it reduces water demand, improves workability, minimizes cracking due to thermal and drying shrinkage, enhances durability to the reinforcement corrosion, and reduces cost of concrete work.
