Risk taking refers to the tedency to engage in behaviour that have the potential to be harmful as dangerous,yet at the same time provide the opportunity for some kind of outcome that can be perceived as positive eg:-driving fast may bring positive feeling in that moment,at the same time put you at risk such as it may cause accident
Roadblocks for becoming a risk taker
A fear of failure
Desire to avoid conflict
No desire to change
Desire to change but an irrational belief that it is impossible to change
Fear of rejection
Risk observer
In every org. there will be a risk observer.Their main responsibility is to provide assurance that the internal control & risk structure operates effectively.
Their main role may vary from one org. to another.Roles include:--
Assessing the current state of risk mgnt, while providing the vision to help mgnt identify risks & opportunities
Determining whether the org. is taking risk at a level it can manage
Investigating ways to eliminate inefficiencies in risk mgnt.
Providing deep knowledge & expertise in key areas
Some ways to build courage
Understand your own strengths & weakness
Concentrate on the outcome you want rather than what you do not want
Assess the risk before the undertaking
First focus on your objective before taking risk
Find a suitable support group that will provide you sound advice & help you concentrate on your assets.
