Waste heat recovery from I.C. Engine
Waste heat recovery .pptx (Size: 2.26 MB / Downloads: 92)
Aim/Objective
To Recover waste heat from I.C. Engine and utilize it for useful purpose.
Some of the applications of waste heat recovery are thermoelectric power generation, VARS system, stirling engine etc…
Scope
Our project is to develop a vapour absorption refrigeration system.
As this system reduces the engine load thereby increasing engine parameters such as mileage, this system have immense scope in future.
Design - condenser
The condenser is also designed on the same basis
Velocity of refrigerant, Vr = 14m/s
Calculate nusselt numbers and hence the overall heat transfer, which is about 31.2w/m^2k
Using the formula Q= UA(LMTD),
The length was found out to be 6m of a diameter of 8mm and 10mm
Absorber
Absorber is a device for maintain correct proportion of refrigerant and absorbent to generator
They have to be maintained at 400C
Heat in the solution coming from the generator = 1.7 kW
Heat in the refrigerant coming from the evaporator = 1.76 kW Therefore, total heat to be removed from the absorber,
Q = 1.7 + 1.76 i
Q = 3.46 kW
